Secret Santa, with gift ideas ready
Set up an exchange, add your group and draw names. Wishcraft combines a Secret Santa organizer with wishlists, so choosing the gift can be as considered as choosing the match.
How it works
Agree on the exchange
Decide on a budget and a gift date with your group. Sign in to Wishcraft, open Secret Santa and create an event with its name, date, budget and optional description. Choose whether to include yourself as a participant.
Add the participants
Search for existing Wishcraft users by username or name, or add a non-user manually by name. Check the group before drawing: at least three participants are required.
Review exclusions and draw
Use exclusions to prevent specific pairings, such as partners drawing each other. Too many restrictions can make a draw impossible. Confirm the participant list and then select Draw Names.
Send each reveal privately
After the draw, use the individual reveal links and send each person only their own link. Anyone with a valid reveal link can see the assigned recipient and event details without signing in. Keep it out of a group chat and do not post the full set of links publicly.
Questions worth answering
Does every participant need a Wishcraft account?
The organizer signs in. Participants can be added as Wishcraft users or by name as non-users. A private reveal link can show the match without signing in; viewing a shared wishlist still follows its account and privacy requirements.
Are reveal links sent automatically?
Use the organizer’s sharing controls to copy and send the individual links yourself. Do not rely on an automatic invitation email.
Can I change the group after the draw?
Review names and exclusions before drawing. The event stops offering the normal participant editing controls once drawn. Do not promise a last-minute redraw to the group without checking the event first.
What should I say when inviting the group?
Try: “Would you like to join our Secret Santa? Let’s agree on the budget and exchange date first. Once everyone is confirmed, I’ll send each person a private reveal link. Joining in is optional.”
